This planthopper (Rhyncomitra microrhina) appeared in a field bordering a hardwood forest in Durham, North Carolina, on August 3, 2015. These insects hide on lower leaves of plants and blend in well with them, so that they are usually discovered after capture by people doing surveys of insect species in a particular area with nets. This individual, however, remained undisturbed.
I'm a retired programmer who has found digital art to be a natural medium. I work steadily towards the goal of making this medium a respected art form, as much so as painting and photography are. To me, a piece of true digital art presents an original concept rather than simply being a photo with a filter or an AI software algorithm applied to it. Its style is unique to the artist without being tightly constraining. I also enjoy wildlife photography. I do not submit any originals; if you choose to buy any of my products, you can do that through FAA. There is no need to contact me personally! As is the case with every account on FAA, watermarks do not appear on purchased products. My website is at https://www.dpughphoto.com.
