Artist's Description

At first glance, it's a conventional picture of a self-conscious boy trying on different roles and identifies via dressing up, but it could be a girl, too. But this search for identity is an empty one: the grand building with the columns is a ruin, while the tall window with open curtains is obscured and ignored and the modern building too abstract to stimulate the imagination. Meanwhile, the flowers symbolize neglected tender feelings, still alive but soon to be lost. What stands out is an underlying passion that yearns for constructive expression.

Took 1st place in the Clinical Psychology and Art contest, 8/8/19

Tied with two others for 1st place in the Rebel contest, ending 9/27/22

About Dorothy Pugh

Dorothy Pugh

I'm a retired programmer who has found digital art to be a natural medium. I work steadily towards the goal of making this medium a respected art form, as much so as painting and photography are. To me, a piece of true digital art presents an original concept rather than simply being a photo with a filter or an AI software algorithm applied to it. Its style is unique to the artist without being tightly constraining. I also enjoy wildlife photography. I do not submit any originals; if you choose to buy any of my products, you can do that through FAA. There is no need to contact me personally! As is the case with every account on FAA, watermarks do not appear on purchased products. My website is at https://www.dpughphoto.com.
